  Q: What container sizes are available?  
       
  A:

Container specifications vary slightly between different carriers and container manufacturers. The following specifications can be used as a close approximate:

20ft Standard Container - Capacity 33.2 M3 (1,172 CuFt)
20ft Open Top Container - Capacity 32 M3 (1,130 CuFt) Suitable for over hight cargo. It can be loaded from top by crane.
20ft Flat Container - Suitable for heavy loads and over width cargo.
40ft Standard Container - Capacity 67.6 M3 (2,389 CuFt)
40ft High Cube Container- Capacity 76.3 M3 (2693 CuFt)
40ft Open Top Container - Capacity 66.9 M3 (2,363 CuFt) Suitable for over hight cargo. It can be loaded from top by crane.
40ft Flat Container - Suitable for heavy loads and over width cargo.

 
       
 
Q:
What do terms FCL, LCL, Ro/Ro mean?  
       
  A: FCL - Full Container Load (Shipment of a full container.)
LCL - Less Container Loads (A quantity of product less than the amount needed to completely fill a container)
Ro/Ro - Roll-on/Roll-off (A term applied to ships that are outfitted so that vehicles or heavy machinery can be driven on / off without the use of special cranes.)
 
       
  Q: Is it necessary to have freight insurance?  
       
  A:

No. But we recommend you do! Although shipments are rarely damaged during transportation, anything can happend.
For your own peace of mind, it's better to insure the shipment and the cost of transport. Freight insurance is not expensive, and it can save you a lot of troubles and money. Please call us for a quote and more information.

 
       
  Q: What are Incoterms?  
       
  A: Incoterms are the official rules for the worldwide interpretation of trade terms developed under the auspices of the International Chamber of Commerce, Paris, France. Incoterms are recognized by the United Nations Commission on International Trade Law as the global standard for such interpretation. Click here for the terms.  
       
  Q: When is a B13 (export declaration) required?  
       
  A: One of the regulations for filing B13 (export declaration) is for goods valued in excess of $2000Cad. However, there are numerous other requirements. Please contact us for complete information .  
       
  Q: What is "volume weight" and how do I calculate it?  
       
  A:

Volume weight can be calculated using the following formulas:

Dimensions in centimeters: (Lenght x Width x Height) divided by 6000 = volume weight in kilograms.

Dimensions in inches: (Lenght x Width x Height) divided by 366 =
volume weight in kilograms.
